Linux Basic commands for beginner and Student

Today we will discuss 12 Linux basic commands for beginner and student. These commands are very helpful to start Linux course.

1-ls

The ls-list command is used for list the file and directory.

Formats:

root@lacalhost ~] #ls

You can use for find any directory file or folder. Blue color indicates directory and black color

Indicate file.

2-ls l

Ls l-command is used for extra information like file size date of modification and folder root owner etc.

Formats:

root@lacalhost ~] #ls l

3-date

date command used for display current date of your computer.

Formats:

root@lacalhost ~] #date

4-cal

cal command is used for show current month calendar details.

Formats:

root@lacalhost ~] #cal

 5-clear

clear command is used to clear the screen of the terminal.

Formats:

root@lacalhost ~] #clear

6-wd-

Wd-working directory is used to show the current working directory.

Formats:

root@lacalhost ~] #wd

7-mkdir

Mkdir –make directory command is used to create a new directory.After entering the command you have to enter directory name which you want to create. To check, the directory name used ls command.

Formats:

root@lacalhost ~] #mkdir London

Here London is the directory name.

 

8-rmdir-

Rmdir-remove directory used for removing the directory in the Linux.

Formats:

root@lacalhost ~] #rmdir London

Here London is the directory name.

9-touch

touch command used for creating the file using Linux CLI MODE. Its create a blank file.

Formats:

root@lacalhost ~] #touch English.txt

Here English. The text is the file name. To check the file ls command to be used.

10-rm

rm-remove command-remove command used for remove the file.

Formats:

root@lacalhost ~] #rm English.txt

Here English. The text is the file name. To check the file ls command to be used.

11—cd

cd-clear directory Command used to change from one directory to another directory. This is a most important command for entering in the directory.

Formats:

root@lacalhost ~] #cd English.txt/

Here English.  txt is the file name.

12-mv

mv-move command is used move file from one directory to another directory or folder.

Formats:

root@lacalhost ~] #mv English.txt  /box

Here English.txt is a file name and box is a folder name.
